Howard Brown Health Launches South Shore Library Sexual Health Screening Site Ahead of National HIV Testing Day

Howard Brown Health, one of the nation’s leading LGBTQ+ healthcare providers, is proud to announce the launch of a new community-based screening and linkage to care site at the Chicago Public Library – South Shore Branch (2505 E 73rd St, Chicago, IL 60649), starting Thursday, June 26, 2025. The new site will offer confidential HIV, Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia and chronic condition screenings, along with direct connections to holistic follow-up care, including primary care, PrEP and PEP, dental services, and diabetes management.

Located in a neighborhood with some of Chicago’s highest rates of HIV diagnoses and diabetes, the South Shore site expands access to early detection and affirming care in a trusted community setting. Services will be available on the fourth Thursday of each month from 3PM – 7PM. Walk-ins are welcome, and patients may also pre-register HERE.

“Our presence at South Shore Library helps break down barriers to health care and ensures people are met where they are, with compassion and dignity,” said Dr. Travis Gayles, CEO, Howard Brown Health. “We are deeply grateful for this partnership, which strengthens our commitment to whole-person care rooted in equity and community trust.”

Launching just ahead of National HIV Testing Day on June 27th, the site reflects Howard Brown Health’s continued commitment to meeting people where they are and connecting them to whole-person, culturally competent care.
