Reporter
Health News Illinois is seeking a reporter for its growing publication focused on the intersection of healthcare policy, politics and business.
The ideal candidate will be able to break down complex policies into concise, snappy copy for an audience of healthcare executives, government leaders, lawmakers, other journalists and more who consider the publication an indispensable part of their day.
They should be as comfortable scouring the halls of the state Capitol as they are sifting through in-depth reports.
Knowledge of healthcare policy is a plus, but not required. Experience reporting on other industries, politics and business is helpful – as is experience building sources to dig up scoops and uncover the real story.
In addition to reporting for a daily email newsletter, reporters will be asked to help out with in-person and virtual events on timely health policy topics and moderate events.
They will also write stories for our sister publication Wisconsin Health News.
This is a full-time, remote position which may include some travel based on location.
Residence in Chicago is not required, but preferred as the reporter will be asked to cover events in the city.
Salary for the position is competitive based on experience and includes benefits, generous vacation time, phone and internet stipends and more.

Producer (part-time)
Health News Illinois is seeking a producer for its growing publication focused on the intersection of healthcare policy, politics and business.
They will work alongside a team of reporters to help publish a daily email newsletter, maintain a website and grow the company’s social media presence. They will also play an integral role in producing virtual and in-person events on pressing health policy topics. In addition, the producer will help out with our sister publication Wisconsin Health News.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Helping publish daily email newsletters
- Posting stories and video packages to our websites
- Engaging audiences on social media platforms
- Writing stories for our newsletters and websites
- Prepping and promoting virtual and in-person events
This is a half-time, remote position which may include some travel based on location.
Residence in Chicago is not required, but preferred as the producer may be asked to help out with in-person events.
