Earlier this spring while in the midst of the spring legislative session, Rep. Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora, experienced a stroke and a subsequent brain surgery.

Now on the road to recovery, Hernandez will discuss her personal story at a virtual Health News Illinois Newsmaker event on Wednesday, July 13, moderated by reporter Ryan Voyles. Hernandez will also talk about hurdles in accessing care and what lawmakers can do to help those who suffer brain injuries.
