Legislation would make it easier for nurses to practice across state lines

Illinois nurses would have an easier time practicing across state lines under legislation proposed by Rep. David Reis, R-Ste. Marie, an effort he’s been working on for five years. Reis said his current bill uses the same language as legislation that passed the Senate last year.

Audit increases scrutiny of state’s managed care expansion

Elected officials were quick to critique Gov. Bruce Rauner’s administration after an audit released Tuesday found that his Department of Healthcare and Family Services failed to adequately monitor $7.1 billion in Medicaid payments to and by 12 managed care organizations in 2016. HFS, meanwhile, said the Medicaid managed care reboot will help ensure the program’s accountability and quality.
