Providers call for delay as bill for Medicare COVID-19 loan program comes due

Hospitals and other providers still reeling from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic could be on the hook for millions of dollars beginning next month when the federal government starts to recoup a Medicare loan it issued during the beginning stages of the crisis. As federal lawmakers debate the next relief bill, a growing number of providers are calling for a delay to the repayments, or altogether forgiveness.
