AdventHealth Hinsdale plans $21.3 million nursery unit renovation

AdventHealth Hinsdale plans a $21.3 million renovation of a special care nursery unit, according to a recent application filed with the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board.

The plan would modernize the existing nursery unit, which has a neonatal intensive care unit.

The renovations would also expand the nursery unit into adjacent vacant space on the fourth floor where the unit is located, which would “greatly improve patient/family privacy and staff flow,” according to the application.

The nursery unit is expected to remain operational during the renovations.

The hospital is located in DuPage County and serves patients from across the Chicago suburbs. No more than 6.1 percent of patients coming from one zip code from 2019 to 2021, according to the application.

If approved, the project is anticipated to be completed by September 2024.

The board is tentatively scheduled to consider the plan at its Jan. 31 meeting.
