COVID-19 metrics stay level

As of Sunday, 1,367 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, up 33 from Saturday and down 54 from the prior week.

Of the patients in the hospital, 144 were in intensive care units, down seven from Saturday and down 54 from the prior week. Twenty percent of Illinois’ ICU beds were available, the same as the prior week.

There were 48 patients on ventilators, the same as Saturday and down 14 from the prior week.

Forty-two counties are now at a “high” community level of COVID-19, the level at which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends people mask indoors in public spaces. Thirty-nine counties are at a “medium” risk level.

The Department of Public Health reported 2,823 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths on Monday. The new cases bring the state total to 3,653,947, while the death toll remains at 34,609.

The seven-day average for new cases on Monday was 3,524, down 66 from the prior week. The seven-day average for daily deaths is nine, down eight from the prior week.

The seven-day case rate per 100,000 people is 27.7 down 0.5 from the prior week.

Illinois vaccinators have administered 23,184,132 COVID-19 vaccines, including 4,738,559 booster doses. The seven-day average for doses administered is 7,604.
