Pritzker taps former Medicaid Director Theresa Eagleson to head HFS

Gov.-elect J.B. Pritzker named a 15-year veteran of the Department of Healthcare and Family Services to be its next director Thursday.

Theresa Eagleson spent over a decade in management at HFS, serving as Medicaid director, deputy administrator of the Division of Medical Programs and senior adviser to the administrator. Before that she was a health and human services policy advisor and senior budget analyst for former Republican Gov. Jim Edgar.

Eagleson is currently the executive director of the Office of Medicaid Innovation at the University of Illinois system, a post she’s held since 2014.
