IDPH reports 9,301 new COVID-19 cases, 54 deaths
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 9,301 new COVID-19 cases and 54 deaths on Thursday.
The new cases bring the state total to 1,877,213, while the death toll is 26,766.
The seven-day average for new cases is 7,099, up 1,786 from a week ago. The seven-day average for daily deaths is 38, up 16 from the prior week.
As of Wednesday, 3,178 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, up 73 from Tuesday and up 641 from the prior week.
Of the patients in the hospital, 672 were in the ICU, up 31 from Tuesday and up 167 from the prior week. There were 299 patients on ventilators, up 15 from Tuesday and up 85 from the prior week.
The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 4.3 percent. The seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 5.7 percent.
About 74.6 percent of eligible Illinoisans ages 5 and older have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 66.6 percent are fully vaccinated.
Illinois vaccinators have administered 17,927,416 COVID-19 vaccines, per state data. The seven-day average of doses administered is 75,514.
