IDPH reports 4,705 new COVID-19 cases, nine deaths

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 4,705 new COVID-19 on Monday and nine deaths.

The new cases bring the state’s total to 1,775,253, while the death toll is 26,277.

The seven-day average for new cases is 4,392, up 940 from a week ago. The seven-day average for daily deaths is 23, up four from the prior week.

As of Sunday, 1,833 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, up 121 from Saturday and up 232 from the prior week.

Of the patients in the hospital, 341 were in the ICU, down 14 from Saturday and up 18 from the prior week. There were 153 patients on ventilators, down six from Saturday and up 14 as the prior week.

The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 3.3 percent. The seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 3.9 percent.

About 77.9 percent of eligible Illinoisans ages 12 and older have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. About 71.3 percent are fully vaccinated.

Illinois vaccinators have administered 16,867,996 COVID-19 vaccines, per state data. The seven-day average of doses administered is 62,002.
