IDPH reports 4,741 new COVID-19 cases, 22 deaths

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 4,741 new COVID-19 cases and 22 deaths on Thursday.

The new cases bring the state’s total to 1,559,077, while the death toll is 24,215.

As of Wednesday, 2,337 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, up 10 from Tuesday and up 83 from the prior week.

Of the patients in the hospital, 552 were in the ICU, a decrease of 13 from Tuesday and up 25 from the prior week. There were 305 patients on ventilators, down 38 from Tuesday and up 16 from the prior week.

The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 4.7 percent. The seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 5.1 percent.

About 77.8 percent of eligible Illinoisans ages 12 and older have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. About 60.5 percent are fully vaccinated.

Illinois vaccinators have administered 14,125,519 COVID-19 vaccines, per state data. The seven-day average of doses administered is 21,005.
