IDPH reports 3,170 new COVID-19 cases, 33 deaths

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 3,170 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the state’s total to 1,312,722.

The state’s death toll is at 21,755 after 33 more deaths were reported on Thursday.

The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 3.8 percent, down 0.4 percent from last week. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 4.4 percent, a 0.5 percent decrease from last week.

There were 88,336 tests processed over the past 24 hours. A total of 22,008,695 tests have been processed.

As of Wednesday night, 2,147 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, an increase of 104 from last week. Of the patients in the hospital this week, 511 were in the ICU and 238 patients were on ventilators, the latter up 48 from last week.

Twenty-six percent of Illinois’ 32,317 hospital beds were available as of Thursday morning. Twenty percent of the state’s 3,385 ICU beds were available as were 75 percent of the state’s 5,718 ventilators.

A total of 8,473,953 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is approximately 123,078 doses, with 131,411 doses administered on Wednesday.

There have been 10,581,985 doses of COVID-19 vaccines delivered to Illinois providers, including in Chicago.
