IDPH reports 3,866 COVID-19 cases, 21 deaths

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 3,866 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the state’s total to 1,296,381.

The state’s death toll is at 21,630 after 21 more deaths were reported on Friday.

The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 4.2 percent, the same as last week. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 4.9 percent, a 0.1 percent increase from last week.

There were 93,602 tests processed over the past 24 hours. A total of 21,571,023 tests have been processed.

As of Thursday night, 2,058 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, an increase of 250 from last week. Of the patients in the hospital this week, 468 were in the ICU and 205 patients were on ventilators, the latter up 42 from last week.

Twenty-six percent of Illinois’ 32,365 hospital beds were available as of Friday morning. Twenty-one percent of the state’s 3,382 ICU beds were available as were 76 percent of the state’s 5,704 ventilators.

A total of 7,779,290 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is approximately 129,664 doses, with 166,885 doses administered on Thursday.

There have been 9,777,825 doses of COVID-19 vaccines delivered to Illinois providers, including in Chicago.
