IDPH reports 2,931 COVID-19 cases, 13 deaths

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,931 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the total to 1,261,667.

The state’s death toll is at 21,395 after 13 more deaths were reported on Tuesday.

The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 3.9 percent, up 0.5 percent from last week. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 4.5 percent, a 0.6 percent increase from last week.

There were 51,625 tests processed over the past 24 hours. A total of 20,737,823 tests have been processed.

As of Monday night, 1,648 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, an increase of 252 from last week. Of the patients in the hospital this week, 357 were in the ICU and 143 patients were on ventilators, the latter up 22 from last week.

Thirty-one percent of Illinois’ 32,452 hospital beds were available as of Tuesday morning. Twenty-nine percent of the state’s 3,379 ICU beds were available as were 77 percent of the state’s 5,699 ventilators.

A total of 6,413,258 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is approximately 106,976 doses, with 95,188 doses administered on Monday.

There have been 8,061,075 doses of COVID-19 vaccines delivered to Illinois providers, including in Chicago. That number includes doses allocated for the federal government’s Pharmacy Partnership Program for long-term care facilities, which the department said Tuesday “effectively has ended.”
