IDPH reports 10,959 new COVID-19 cases, 192 deaths

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 10,959 cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the total to 759,562.

The state’s death toll is at 12,830 after 192 more deaths were reported on Thursday. The department noted in a statement that some data is delayed from the past holiday weekend.

The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 10.4 percent, a 0.1 percent increase from last week. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 12.3 percent, a 0.3 percent increase from last week.

There were 106,778 tests processed over the past 24 hours. A total of 10,806,364 tests have been processed.

As of Wednesday night, 5,653 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, a decrease of 379 from last week. Of the patients in the hospital this week, 1,170 were in the ICU and 693 patients were on ventilators, the latter a decrease of 31 from last week.

Twenty-four percent of Illinois’ 32,663 hospital beds were available as of Thursday morning. Eighteen percent of the state’s 3,307 ICU beds were available as were 68 percent of the state’s 5,707 ventilators.
