DPH: 2,128 COVID-19 cases, 27 more deaths in Illinois
There were 2,128 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Illinois on Wednesday, bringing the state’s total number of cases to 238,643.
The Illinois Department of Public Health also reported 27 additional deaths Wednesday, bringing the total number to 8,091.
A total of 32,751 tests were processed over the past 24 hours. The total number of completed tests is 4,119,873. Officials said Wednesday they are working on a “minor tech issue” related to how the state’s testing numbers are reported, which is why the recently reported numbers have been lower-than-average.
The positivity rate for tests over the past seven days is 4.5 percent, a 0.2 percent increase from Tuesday and the second-straight day it has increased by that amount.
Thirty-eight percent of Illinois’ 34,783 hospital beds were available as of Wednesday morning. Forty-one percent of the state’s 3,806 ICU beds were available as were 77 percent of the state’s 5,695 ventilators.
