25th AIDS Run & Walk Chicago coming to Soldier Field Sept. 26

AIDS Foundation Chicago along with dozens of community organizations and thousands of supporters will gather at Soldier Field Saturday, September 26 for the 25th annual AIDS Run & Walk Chicago.  The event will feature entertainment, a vendor village with dozens of community groups offering information and services, a communal warm up, 10k and 5k competitive runs, and a 5k walk and roll course along a scenic lakefront route. Snacks and refreshments from McDonald’s, Molson Coors, and the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile will be served. MC Mike Lowe of WGN will lead the festivities. Full event details and registration are available at aidsrunwalk.org.
AIDS Run & Walk Chicago raises funds that are critical to providing HIV care, housing, and services that promote health and reduce HIV transmission.  AIDS Foundation Chicago (AFC), the organizer and main beneficiary of the AIDS Run & Walk, serves over 8,000 clients annually through case management, housing, and other supportive services.
“AIDS Run & Walk Chicago has always been about resistance, solidarity, and the promise to keep fighting,” said John Peller, President & CEO of AIDS Foundation Chicago.  “In our 25th year, our community faces some of the greatest challenges our movement has ever seen.  Please join us to build power for our cause and share in the tribute and joy this event represents.”
Over 25 years, AIDS Run & Walk Chicago has unified thousands of supporters, dozens of partner organizations, and numerous corporate teams to raise funds and awareness in support of people living with and vulnerable to HIV, chronic conditions, and homelessness.  Sponsors of AIDS Run & Walk Chicago this year include Gilead, ITW, Kraft Heinz, McDonalds, Stonewall Sports, ViiV Health Care, Waymo, Fleet Feet, Fresenius Kabi, Howard Brown Health, Lime, Molson Coors, Rivers Casino, and WGN Chicago.
Additional support is generated by the event’s CommunityDirect partners, HIV and housing sector organizations who fundraise and bring home 90% or more of their funds raised for AIDS Run & Walk Chicago in direct service of their organizations.
Over the past quarter century, nearly $11 million has been raised through AIDS Run & Walk Chicago – which has grown into the largest HIV gathering in the midwest in terms of participation, funds raised, visibility, and impact.  This year, event organizers are calling supporters to make history with the event’s 25th year, the theme of which is “Resist, Restore, and Renew.” Attendees are encouraged to gather in support for people living with HIV, fight back against unprecedented attacks to the HIV movement from the federal government, take care of one another, and double down on their commitment to end the HIV epidemic.
