As of Sunday, 1,285 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, down 15 from Saturday and up 123 from the prior week.
The Department of Public Health reported 1,948 new COVID-19 cases and no deaths on Monday. The new cases bring the state total to 3,722,915, while the death toll is at 34,824.
The seven-day average for new cases on Monday was 2,663, down 1,063 from the prior week. The seven-day average for daily deaths is nine, down one from the prior week.
Twenty-eight counties are now at a “high” community level of COVID-19, the level at which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends people mask indoors in public spaces. Forty counties are at a “medium” risk level.
The seven-day case rate per 100,000 people is 20.9, down 8.3 from the prior week.
Illinois vaccinators have administered 23,366,485 COVID-19 vaccine doses, including 4,764,499 booster shots. The seven-day average for daily doses administered is 16,165.
