Rush University System for Health and Pennsylvania-based Select Medical Corporation broke ground this week on a new 100-bed specialty hospital on Chicago’s west side.
The facility, slated to open in 2024, will include 56 comprehensive rehabilitation beds and 44 long-term acute care beds. Select Medical will serve as the majority owner of the five-story facility, set to be located at the northwest corner of Harrison Street and Loomis Avenue.
“It’s a phenomenal partnership that speaks to innovation and brings patients the care they need when, where and how they need it,” Dr. Omar Lateef, CEO of Rush University Medical Center and future head of the Rush health system, said in a statement.
The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board approved the project late last year.
