COVID-19 continues upward trend
Illinois’ COVID-19 metrics continue their recent increase, according to data from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
As of Sunday, 511 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, up 17 from Saturday and up 70 from the prior week.
Of the patients in the hospital, 71 were in intensive care units, up one from Saturday and from the prior week. Twenty-three percent of Illinois’ ICU beds were available.
There were 21 patients on ventilators, down four from Saturday and down one from the prior week.
IDPH reported 1,303 new COVID-19 cases and zero deaths on Monday. The new cases bring the state total to 3,100,240, while the death toll remains at 33,517.
The seven-day average for new cases on Monday was 2,191, up 438 from the prior week. The seven-day average for daily deaths is six, down five from the prior week.
The seven-day case rate per 100,000 people is 17.2, up 3.4 from the prior week.
About 81.2 percent of eligible Illinoisans ages 5 and older have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 72.8 percent are fully vaccinated.
Illinois vaccinators have administered 21,691,084 COVID-19 vaccines, including 4,344,703 booster doses. The seven-day average for doses administered is 18,160.
