As of Tuesday, 515 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, down 31 from Monday and up 45 from the prior week.
Of the patients in the hospital, 72 were in intensive care units, down four from Monday and up eight from the prior week. There were 24 patients on ventilators, down two from Monday and down three from the prior week.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,194 new COVID-19 cases and nine deaths on Wednesday.
The new cases bring the state total to 3,076,628, while the death toll is 33,443.
The seven-day average for new cases on Wednesday was 1,426, up 218 from the prior week. The seven-day average for daily deaths is 12, up one from the prior week.
Both the seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests and the seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests are 2.1 percent.
About 81.1 percent of eligible Illinoisans ages 5 and older have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 72.5 percent are fully vaccinated.
Illinois vaccinators have administered 21,466,183 COVID-19 vaccines, including 4,310,180 booster doses. The seven-day average for doses administered is 18,294.
