COVID-19 hospitalizations continue decline, slight week-to-week increase in new cases
Illinois continues to see a gradual decline in its COVID-19 hospitalizations, while trends for cases and deaths have remained steady, according to recent data from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
As of Sunday, 461 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, up six from Saturday and down 68 from the prior week.
Of the patients in the hospital, 59 were in intensive care units, down 12 from Saturday and down 38 from the prior week. There were 31 patients on ventilators, up one from Saturday and down 10 from the prior week.
IDPH reported 748 new COVID-19 cases and no deaths on Monday.
The new cases bring the state total to 3,063,735, while the death toll remains at 33,328.
The seven-day average for new cases on Monday was 1,157, up 72 from the prior week. The seven-day average for daily deaths is 16, the same as the prior week.
The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 1.5 percent. The seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 1.7 percent.
About 81.1 percent of eligible Illinoisans ages 5 and older have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 72.4 percent are fully vaccinated.
Illinois vaccinators have administered 21,333,503 COVID-19 vaccines, including 4,267,587 booster doses. The seven-day average for doses administered is 7,107.
