MATTER announces collaboration with American Medical Association to advance equitable health innovation

MATTER announced a collaboration with the American Medical Association (AMA) and leading industry stakeholders to advance equitable health innovation opportunities to benefit communities that have been historically marginalized.

The In Full Health Learning and Action Community to Advance Equitable Health Innovation is a newly launched network and accompanying set of principles that offers organizations a framework to center equity in their health innovation investment, development and purchasing efforts as they actively work to shift resources and decision-making to uplift populations that have been historically marginalized.

As our healthcare system is propelled into a new era of digital innovation and transformation, it is imperative that technological advancements are designed equitably and inclusively such that they remedy — rather than exacerbate — inequities in our healthcare system. This collaboration with the AMA parallels existing MATTER initiatives, such as the Advancing Health Equity event series and the Health Equity Innovation Accelerator, both of which MATTER launched in 2021.

“MATTER is committed to harnessing our ecosystem of healthcare innovators to write a new health equity narrative,” said Steven Collens, CEO of MATTER. “Our collaboration with the American Medical Association will help our community contribute to making health more accessible and equitable for all.”
