Acadia Healthcare plans a $24.6 million renovation of the former Chicago Lakeshore Hospital, with plans to reopen the facility next year, according to a recent application filed with the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board.
The plan for the 101-bed facility, to be known as the Montrose Behavioral Health Hospital, calls for various upgrades to the existing infrastructure, as well as upgrades to the exterior’s facade and main entrance. The goal is to create a positive aesthetic environment for patients and staff, Acadia said in its application.
“Acadia Healthcare’s mission is to create a world-class organization that sets the standard of excellence in the treatment of behavioral health,” they said in the application.
Acadia acquired the hospital and two other facilities on Chicago’s north side last December. Services have been suspended at the former Chicago Lakeshore Hospital since 2020.
Acadia plans to open a children’s hospital at Montrose Behavioral Health this summer, while the adult/geriatric hospital is expected to open in spring 2023.
The review board is tentatively scheduled to take up the application at its June 7 meeting.
