IDPH reports 2,375 new COVID-19 cases, 33 deaths

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,375 new COVID-19 cases and 33 deaths on Tuesday.

The new cases bring the state’s total to 1,621,175, while the death toll is 24,892.

As of Monday, 1,881 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, down 12 from Sunday and down 158 from the prior week.

Of the patients in the hospital, 455 were in the ICU, down six from Sunday and down 42 from the prior week. There were 253 patients on ventilators, up 10 from Sunday and down eight from the prior week.

The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 2.5 percent. The seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 3.1 percent.

Over 79.5 percent of eligible Illinoisans ages 12 and older have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. About 62.2 percent are fully vaccinated.

Illinois vaccinators have administered 14,502,329 COVID-19 vaccines, per state data. The seven-day average of doses administered is 22,217.
