IDPH reports three-month high of 46 COVID-19 deaths
COVID-19 deaths hit a three-month Wednesday, with the Illinois Department of Public Health reporting 46 more deaths.
It’s the highest single-day number since 47 deaths were reported on May 15. The death toll is now 23,685.
There were 3,833 new COVID-19 cases reported Wednesday, bringing the state total to 1,474,285.
The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 5.3 percent. The seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 6.1 percent.
Just over 75 percent of Illinoisans 12 and older have now received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Additionally, 58.2 percent of those 12 and older are fully vaccinated, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Illinois vaccinators have administered 13,692,500 COVID-19 vaccines, per state data. The seven-day average of doses administered is 40,286.
As of Tuesday, 1,977 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, up 419 from the prior week. Of the patients in the hospital this week, 437 were in the ICU, up 126 from the prior week, and 215 patients were on ventilators, up 70.
