IDPH reports 808 new COVID-19 cases, 17 deaths

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 808 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the state’s total to 1,377,249.

The seven-day average for new cases is 1,220, compared to 1,537 the prior week.

The state’s death toll is at 22,650 after 17 more deaths were reported on Tuesday.

The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 2.1 percent, down 0.2 percent from last week. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 2.7 percent, a 0.1 percent decrease from last week.

There were 42,841 tests processed over the past 24 hours. A total of 24,309,118 tests have been processed.

As of Monday night, 1,419 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, a decrease of 84 from last week. Of the patients in the hospital this week, 350 were in the ICU and 180 patients were on ventilators, the latter down 54 from last week.

Twenty-seven percent of Illinois’ 32,065 hospital beds were available as of Tuesday morning. Twenty-five percent of the state’s 3,298 ICU beds were available as were 75 percent of the state’s 5,661 ventilators.

A total of 10,990,171 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is approximately 79,485 doses, with 49,402 administered Monday.
