Illinois surpasses 10 million COVID-19 vaccine doses administered

Illinois has now administered over 10 million COVID-19 vaccines, the state’s Department of Public Health announced Tuesday.

A total of 10,037,624 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered as of Monday night. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is approximately 83,887 doses, with 58,709 doses administered on Monday.

There were 1,562 new cases of COVID-19 reported on Tuesday, bringing the state’s total to 1,357,953.

The state’s death toll is at 22,261 after 26 more deaths were reported on Tuesday.

The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 2.8 percent, down 0.5 percent from last week. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 3.3 percent, a 0.7 percent decrease from last week.

There were 46,334 tests processed over the past 24 hours. A total of 23,435,198 tests have been processed.

As of Monday night, 1,930 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, a decrease of 144 from last week. Of the patients in the hospital this week, 489 were in the ICU and 261 patients were on ventilators, the latter down one from last week.

Twenty-nine percent of Illinois’ 32,221 hospital beds were available as of Tuesday morning. Twenty-six percent of the state’s 3,394 ICU beds were available as were 75 percent of the state’s 5,653 ventilators.
