IDPH reports 3,321 new COVID-19 cases, 36 deaths

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 3,321 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the state’s total to 1,351,497.

The state’s death toll is at 22,171 after 36 more deaths were reported on Friday.

The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 3.1 percent, down 0.3 percent from last week. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 3.7 percent, a 0.3 percent decrease from last week.

There were 101,005 tests processed over the past 24 hours. A total of 23,204,489 tests have been processed.

As of Thursday night, 1,977 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, a decrease of 47 from last week. Of the patients in the hospital this week, 464 were in the ICU and 239 patients were on ventilators, the latter up four from last week.

Twenty-five percent of Illinois’ 32,255 hospital beds were available as of Friday morning. Nineteen percent of the state’s 3,387 ICU beds were available as were 76 percent of the state’s 5,699 ventilators.

A total of 9,719,958 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is approximately 65,750 doses, with 73,526 doses administered on Thursday.
