About 18.6 percent of Illinoisans have been fully vaccinated, according to recent data from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
As of Saturday, 2,368,041 Illinoisans have been fully vaccinated. Of those fully vaccinated, 70.1 percent are white. Latinx Illinoisans make up about 9.4 percent of those vaccinated, Black Illinoisans make up about 8.6 percent and Asian Illinoisans make up about 5.2 percent. About 1.7 percent are people of other races.
The department said the race or ethnicity of about 4.5 percent of those who have been fully vaccinated is unknown.
Of the 6,290,822 total vaccine doses administered, nearly 68 percent have gone to white Illinoisans. Latinx Illinoisans have received 10.6 percent of the vaccines, while about 8.8 percent have gone to Black Illinoisans, 5.7 percent have gone to Asian Illinoisans and about 1.8 percent have gone to people of other races. Five percent have gone to those with an unknown race or ethnicity.
There have been 7,335,385 doses of COVID-19 vaccines delivered to Illinois providers, including in Chicago. An additional 448,830 doses have been allocated to the federal partnership program for long-term care facilities.
The department reported 5,288 cases of COVID-19 over the weekend, bringing the total to 1,256,634
The state’s death toll is at 21,373 after 27 more deaths were reported over the weekend.
The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 3.8 percent, a 0.6 percent increase from last week. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 4.3 percent, a 0.7 percent increase from last week.
There were 126,810 tests processed over the weekend. A total of 20,626,612 tests have been processed.
As of Saturday night, 1,491 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, an increase of 154 from the prior week. Of the patients in the hospital this week, 336 were in the ICU and 143 patients were on ventilators, the latter an increase of 36 from last week.
Thirty-two percent of Illinois’ 32,451 hospital beds were available as of Sunday morning. Twenty-eight percent of the state’s 3,382 ICU beds were available as were 78 percent of the state’s 5,696 ventilators.
Additionally, the department announced Friday 108 new COVID-19 deaths at long-term facilities over the past week, 90 more than the prior week.
The new deaths bring the total number of COVID-19 deaths linked to Illinois long-term care facilities to 10,323. A total of 77,934 cases have been reported at the facilities.
