IDPH reports 2,404 COVID-19 cases, 17 deaths

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,404 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the total to 1,241,993.

The state’s death toll is at 21,273 after 17 more deaths were reported on Tuesday.

The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 3.4 percent, up 0.9 percent from last week. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 3.9 percent, a 1 percent increase from last week.

There were 51,579 tests processed over the past 24 hours. A total of 20,235,323 tests have been processed.

As of Monday night, 1,396 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, an increase of 126 from last week. Of the patients in the hospital this week, 308 were in the ICU and 121 patients were on ventilators, the latter up four from last week.

Thirty-one percent of Illinois’ 32,461 hospital beds were available as of Tuesday morning. Twenty-eight percent of the state’s 3,381 ICU beds were available as were 78 percent of the state’s 5,680 ventilators.

A total of 5,664,426 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered, including 367,706 for long-term care facilities. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is approximately 105,040 doses, with 86,812 doses administered on Monday.

There have been 6,638,865 doses of COVID-19 vaccines delivered to Illinois providers, including in Chicago.
