IDPH reports 1,763 COVID-19 cases, 39 deaths

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,763 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the total to 1,206,172.

The state’s death toll is at 20,901 after 39 more deaths were reported on Friday.

The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 2.3 percent, a 0.1 percent increase from last week. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 2.6 percent, a 0.2 percent decrease from last week.

There were 93,913 tests processed over the past 24 hours. A total of 18,988,565 tests have been processed.

As of Thursday night, 1,128 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, a decrease of 38 from last week. Of the patients in the hospital this week, 240 were in the ICU and 108 patients were on ventilators, the latter a decrease of 13 from last week.

Twenty-nine percent of Illinois’ 32,573 hospital beds were available as of Friday morning. Twenty-six percent of the state’s 3,388 ICU beds were available as were 78 percent of the state’s 5,706 ventilators.

A total of 3,791,273 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered, including 353,655 for long-term care facilities. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is approximately 95,121 doses, with 110,570 doses administered on Thursday.

There have been 4,501,155 doses of COVID-19 vaccines delivered to Illinois providers, including in Chicago. An additional 414,900 doses have been allocated to the federal government’s Pharmacy Partnership Program for long-term care facilities.
