Illinois surpasses 3 million COVID-19 vaccines administered

Over 3 million COVID-19 vaccines have now been administered in Illinois.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported Friday a total of 3,125,425 vaccines have been administered, including 336,911 for long-term care facilities. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is approximately 83,115 doses, with a single-day high of 131,882 doses administered on Thursday.

There have been 3,780,305 doses of COVID-19 vaccines delivered to Illinois providers, including in Chicago. An additional 443,700 doses have been allocated to the federal government’s Pharmacy Partnership Program for long-term care facilities.

The department reported 1,442 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the total to 1,194,702.

The state’s death toll is at 20,700 after 33 more deaths were reported on Friday.

The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 2.2 percent, a 0.3 percent drop from last week. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 2.8 percent, a 0.1 percent increase from last week.

There were 103,336 tests processed over the past 24 hours. A total of 18,492,848 tests have been processed.

As of Thursday night, 1,166 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, a decrease of 227 from last week. Of the patients in the hospital this week, 263 were in the ICU and 121 patients were on ventilators, the latter a decrease of 53 from last week.

Thirty-one percent of Illinois’ 32,581 hospital beds were available as of Friday morning. Twenty-eight percent of the state’s 3,389 ICU beds were available as were 80 percent of the state’s 5,682 ventilators.
