IDPH reports 3,660 COVID-19 cases, 83 deaths

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 3,660 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the total to 1,141,219.

The state’s death toll is at 19,526 after 83 more deaths were reported on Friday.

The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 3.3 percent, a 1 percent drop from last week. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 4.3 percent, a 1.1 percent decrease from last week.

There were 105,085 tests processed over the past 24 hours. A total of 16,464,740 tests have been processed.

As of Thursday night, 2,318 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, a decrease of 417 from last week. Of the patients in the hospital this week, 491 were in the ICU and 254 patients were on ventilators, the latter a decrease of 43 from last week.

Twenty-nine percent of Illinois’ 32,594 hospital beds were available as of Friday morning. Twenty-seven percent of the state’s 3,315 ICU beds were available as were 76 percent of the state’s 5,687 ventilators.

Illinois set a new one-day vaccination record on Thursday with a total of 74,965 doses administered. A total of 1,231,418 vaccines have been administered, including 188,351 for long-term care facilities.

The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is approximately 49,082 doses.

There have been 1,635,925 doses of COVID-19 vaccines delivered to Illinois providers, including in Chicago. An additional 496,100 doses have been allocated to the federal government’s Pharmacy Partnership Program for long-term care facilities.
