IDPH reports 4,318 COVID-19 cases, 33 deaths
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 4,318 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the total to 1,076,532.
The state’s death toll is at 18,291 after 33 more deaths were reported on Tuesday.
The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 5.7 percent, a 1.8 percent drop from last week. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 6.9 percent, a 1.7 percent decrease from last week.
There were 71,533 tests processed over the past 24 hours. A total of 14,898,528 tests have been processed.
As of Monday night, 3,335 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, a decrease of 218 from last week. Of the patients in the hospital this week, 713 were in the ICU and 395 patients were on ventilators, the latter a decrease of 14 from last week.
Thirty-two percent of Illinois’ 32,418 hospital beds were available as of Tuesday morning. Twenty-nine percent of the state’s 3,300 ICU beds were available as were 73 percent of the state’s 5,708 ventilators.
As of Monday night, 781,350 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been delivered to Illinois providers, including in Chicago. An additional 304,600 doses have been allocated to the federal government’s Pharmacy Partnership Program for long-term care facilities.
A total of 508,732 vaccines have been administered, including 69,976 for long-term care facilities. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is approximately 22,134 doses.
