The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 6,839 cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the total to 991,719.
The state’s death toll is at 16,959 after 126 more deaths were reported on Tuesday.
The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 8.5 percent, a 1.1 percent increase from last week. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 9.8 percent, a 1 percent increase from last week.
There were 87,083 tests processed over the past 24 hours. A total of 13,617,454 tests have been processed.
As of Monday night, 3,905 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, a decrease of 408 from last week. Of the patients in the hospital this week, 800 were in the ICU and 457 patients were on ventilators, the latter a decrease of 49 from last week.
Thirty percent of Illinois’ 32,368 hospital beds were available as of Tuesday morning. Twenty-four percent of the state’s 3,295 ICU beds were available as were 73 percent of the state’s 5,693 ventilators.
