IDPH reports 7,359 new COVID-19 cases, 117 deaths
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 7,359 cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the total to 863,477.
The state’s death toll is at 14,509 after 117 more deaths were reported on Tuesday.
The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 8.6 percent, a 1.3 percent decrease from last week. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 10.3 percent, a 1.5 percent decrease from last week.
There were 92,922 tests processed over the past 24 hours. A total of 11,962,010 tests have been processed.
As of Monday night, 4,965 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, a decrease of 234 from last week. Of the patients in the hospital this week, 1,057 were in the ICU and 598 patients were on ventilators, the latter a decrease of 28 from last week.
Twenty-six percent of Illinois’ 32,420 hospital beds were available as of Tuesday morning. Twenty-two percent of the state’s 3,262 ICU beds were available as were 72 percent of the state’s 5,684 ventilators.
