IDPH reports 7,214 new COVID-19 cases, 103 deaths

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 7,214 cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the total to 856,118.

The state’s death toll is at 14,394 after 103 more deaths were reported on Monday.

The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 8.7 percent, a 1.6 percent decrease from last week. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 10.3 percent, a 1.6 percent decrease from last week.

There were 92,256 tests processed over the past 24 hours. A total of 11,869,088 tests have been processed.

As of Sunday night, 4,951 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, a decrease of 239 from last week. Of the patients in the hospital this week, 1,070 were in the ICU and 621 patients were on ventilators, the latter a decrease of 27 from last week.

Twenty-nine percent of Illinois’ 32,601 hospital beds were available as of Monday morning. Twenty-three percent of the state’s 3,306 ICU beds were available as were 72 percent of the state’s 5,707 ventilators.
