IDPH reports 9,420 new COVID-19 cases, 190 deaths

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 9,420 cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the total to 832,951.

The state’s death toll is at 14,050 after 190 more deaths were reported on Friday.

The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 9.4 percent, a 0.9 percent decrease from last week. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 11.1 percent, a 1 percent decrease from last week.

There were 104,448 tests processed over the past 24 hours. A total of 11,586,296 tests have been processed.

As of Thursday night, 5,141 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, a decrease of 312 from last week. Of the patients in the hospital this week, 1,081 were in the ICU and 635 patients were on ventilators, the latter a decrease of 68 from last week.

Twenty-five percent of Illinois’ 32,637 hospital beds were available as of Friday morning. Nineteen percent of the state’s 3,308 ICU beds were available as were 70 percent of the state’s 5,696 ventilators.
