IDPH reports 7,910 new COVID-19 cases, 145 deaths
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 7,910 cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the total to 804,174.
The state’s death toll is at 13,487 after 145 more deaths were reported on Tuesday.
The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 9.9 percent, a 0.5 percent decrease from last week. It is the first time the rate has been in single-digits since Nov. 6.
The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 11.8 percent, a 0.4 percent decrease from last week.
There were 95,825 tests processed over the past 24 hours. A total of 11,274,608 tests have been processed.
As of Monday night, 5,199 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, a decrease of 636 from last week. Of the patients in the hospital this week, 1,071 were in the ICU and 626 patients were on ventilators, the latter a decrease of 95 from last week.
Twenty-five percent of Illinois’ 32,567 hospital beds were available as of Tuesday morning. Twenty percent of the state’s 3,310 ICU beds were available as were 70 percent of the state’s 5,699 ventilators.
