IDPH reports one-day high of 12,702 new COVID-19 cases
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 12,702 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, the third-straight day it has set a single-day record.
The state’s total number of COVID-19 cases is now at 536,542.
The state’s death toll is at 10,477 after 43 more deaths were reported on Thursday.
There were 100,617 more tests processed during the past day. A total of 8,765,100 tests have been processed.
The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 12.6 percent, a 3.5 percent increase from last week. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 13.9 percent, a 3.4 percent increase from last week.
As of Wednesday night, 5,258 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, an increase of 1,367 from last week. Of the patients in the hospital this week, 956 were in the ICU and 438 patients were on ventilators.
Twenty-seven percent of Illinois’ 35,024 hospital beds were available as of Thursday morning. Twenty-nine percent of the state’s 3,764 ICU beds were available as were 72 percent of the state’s 5,759 ventilators.
