The Illinois Department of Public Health reported two new records Tuesday, with a one-day high of 12,623 new COVID-19 cases after processing 101,955 tests.
With the new cases, Illinois has now surpassed 500,000 COVID-19 cases. The state’s total number is 511,183.
The previous one-day high of 12,438 new COVID-19 cases was set Saturday.
There were 101,955 more tests processed during the past day, the highest single-day number since 98,418 were reported on Saturday. A total of 8,571,019 tests have been processed.
The state’s death toll is at 10,289 after 79 more deaths were reported on Tuesday.
The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 12 percent, a 3.8 percent increase from last week. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 13.1 percent, a 3.2 percent increase from last week.
As of Monday night, 4,742 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, an increase of 1,148 from last week. Of the patients in the hospital this week, 911 were in the ICU and 399 patients were on ventilators.
Thirty-one percent of Illinois’ 35,099 hospital beds were available as of Tuesday morning. Thirty-three percent of the state’s 3,777 ICU beds were available as were 72 percent of the state’s 5,743 ventilators.
