The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 7,538 cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the total to 437,556.
The state’s death toll is at 9,933 after 55 more deaths were reported on Wednesday.
The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 8.5 percent, a 1.8 percent increase from last week. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 10.1 percent.
There were 71,857 more tests processed during the past day. A total of 8,030,713 tests have been processed.
As of Tuesday night, 3,761 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, an increase of 900 from last week. Of the patients in the hospital this week, 776 were in the ICU and 327 patients were on ventilators.
Thirty-three percent of Illinois’ 35,032 hospital beds were available as of Wednesday morning. Thirty-three percent of the state’s 3,770 ICU beds were available as were 75 percent of the state’s 5,699 ventilators.
