IDPH reports 6,110 new COVID-19 cases, 51 deaths
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported another 6,110 cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, the second-highest number since the pandemic started.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in Illinois is now 389,095.
The state’s death toll is at 9,619 after 51 more deaths were reported on Wednesday.
The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 6.7 percent, a 0.3 percent increase from Tuesday.
There were 70,752 more tests processed during the past day. A total of 7,459,042 tests have been processed.
As of Tuesday night, 2,861 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, an increase of 523 from last week. Of the patients in the hospital this week, 600 were in the ICU and 243 patients were on ventilators.
Thirty-two percent of Illinois’ 35,068 hospital beds were available as of Wednesday morning. Thirty-five percent of the state’s 3,787 ICU beds were available as were 77 percent of the state’s 5,767 ventilators.
