The Illinois Department of Public Health reported a one-day high of 4,942 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, after processing nearly 81,000 tests.
The previous high of 4,554 new COVID-19 cases was set last Friday.
Thursday’s 4,942 new cases bring the state’s total number of COVID-19 cases to 360,159.
The state’s death toll is at 9,387 after 44 more deaths were reported on Thursday.
The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 5.7 percent.
There were 80,977 more tests processed during the past day. A total of 7,031,082 tests have been processed.
As of Wednesday night, 2,463 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, an increase of 531 from last week. Of the patients in the hospital this week, 525 were in the ICU and 212 patients were on ventilators.
Thirty-three percent of Illinois’ 35,061 hospital beds were available as of Thursday morning. Thirty-five percent of the state’s 3,788 ICU beds were available as were 77 percent of the state’s 5,779 ventilators.
