Illinois sets another single-day high for COVID-19 cases

The Illinois Department of Public Health confirmed 4,554 new COVID-19 cases Friday, setting a single-day record for the second day in a row. 

There were 87,759 tests processed, including antigen tests, which the state started adding to its total on Thursday.

There have now been 336,174 cases.

The death toll increased to 9,165 after 38 more deaths. 

The 7-day positivity rate increased to 5.1 percent. 

As of Thursday night, 2,016 COVID-19 patients were in Illinois hospitals. Of those, 410 patients were in intensive care units and 151 were on ventilators.
