DPH: 1,953 COVID-19 cases, 28 more deaths in Illinois

There were 1,953 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Illinois on Thursday, bringing the state’s total number of cases to 255,643.

The Illinois Department of Public Health also reported 28 additional deaths Thursday, bringing the total number to 8,242.

A total of 48,982 tests were processed over the past 24 hours. The total number of completed tests is 4,575,721.

The positivity rate for tests over the past seven days is 3.8 percent, a 0.1 percent increase from Wednesday.

Thirty-eight percent of Illinois’ 34,745 hospital beds were available as of Thursday morning. Forty-three percent of the state’s 3,790 ICU beds were available as were 79 percent of the state’s 5,735 ventilators.
