Bright Health to expand health plans in Illinois

Minneapolis-based Bright Health plans to expand its health plan options in Chicago and expand into DuPage County, the insurer announced last week.

Starting next year, Bright Health will add individual and family plans in addition to the Medicare Advantage plan the insurer began offering this year in the Chicago market. Additionally, the insurer will be offering its plans in DuPage County.

“We continue to see tremendous potential in combining innovative technology solutions with the knowledge and expertise of our local provider partners,” Mike Mikan, CEO of Bright Health, Inc., said in a statement. “Bright Health Plan continues to demonstrate the power of that vision and we look forward to bringing our model to even more people in 2021.”

A spokeswoman told Health News Illinois Monday that Bright Health will continue to partner with AMITA Health on its Illinois plans. It will also provide more details on its plans and potential additional Illinois provider partners later this fall.
