Durbin: HEAL initiative led to more hiring from underserved neighborhoods
An initiative aimed at boosting the health and economic prosperity of 18 south and westside Chicago neighborhoods led to increased hiring in those neighborhoods by hospitals and a jump in local spending during its first year, according to U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin, who launched the three-year Chicago Hospital Engagement, Action, and Leadership initiative in 2018.
