Metro East’s Anderson Healthcare plans new $26 million facility

Anderson Healthcare and Kindred Healthcare plan to build a $26 million rehabilitation hospital in Edwardsville.

The application for the nearly 50,000 square-foot, 34-bed facility was filed earlier this month with the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board. If approved, the company hopes to break ground by next summer, according to a fact sheet provided to Health News Illinois.

The hospital said it will be part of their new medical campus in Edwardsville, where an ambulatory surgical treatment center and pediatric specialty clinic is set to open next year.

The planned rehabilitation hospital will replace an existing 20-bed facility that Anderson Healthcare currently operates in Maryville, according to the application. A request to the review board to discontinue services at that facility will be filed at a later time.

The board is tentatively scheduled to vote on the application at its September meeting.
